Your memories of Spurs at home?
|
Many good (and bad) of playing our 'friends' from North London.
Lasagnagate is up there, as well as the 4-3 in 1997.
My first Spurs match was the 1-1 draw as featured in the 1985 Hooligan documentary. The Chicken Run got involved that day, but I didn't, as I was 13.

Beating them 2-1 just before Christmas 1967. The records show that Billy Bonds scored his first goal for us that day. (Just wish I could remember anything about that goal.) We must have been losing at half-time - Warren Mitchell was standing at the bottom of the steps in the West Stand pretending to support the Hammers, and people were saying, "We'd better wake up in the second half, Alf." "Yur, well, y'know."
I remember clearly the goal Sir Trevor scored against them in 1972, chipping Pat Jennings from the left angle of the penalty area.

Seeing some drunk Spurs wally cheer in the west lower.
Was laying on his back with a broken nose roughly 3 seconds later.
As for games, the year we beat them 3-2 with the Hartson/Kitson combo was a cracking game.

the 4-3 was one of my top 5 games at the boleyn.
the 3-4 reverse, however, was one of my worst. the only positive is that it kinda kick started the run to safety. and did give us THAT tevez free kick & celebration.

my earliest memory is of a 1-1 in 84-85 where Dickens equalised and Ossie Ardiles goal
think it was the game from the ICF documentary may have been to one before when younger before but that's the earliest I can recall

The first Spurs home game I went to was Alvin Martin's testimonial. Gazza had just signed for them.
We'd just signed Julian. I remember my dad remarking what a left foot Julian had during the warm-up. How right he was.
My main memory of that game is Alvin shrugging off the attention of Paul Walsh like Walsh was a little schoolkid. Still makes me chuckle.

Showing my age, but was there for Tony Cottee's debut and debut goal. A 3 - 0 win, I think.

The firm time I saw us entertain Spurs at the Boleyn, was in 92 (I think). It was the season before the Premiership was invented, so we got relegated that season from Division one into Division one. Be beat the Yids 2-1 that year.

1993 - our first year in the Premiership and a 3-1 reverse at home. of the 20 outfield players that day, 19 were from England. Can you imagine such a thing?
Tottenham win a corner and Anderton comes over to the North Bank to pick up the ball. From behind me about 2 rows back I hear "WINGNUT! YEAH YOU YOU WINGNUT CUNT. DONT TOUCH THAT BALL. YOU PUT THAT BALL DOWN YOU WINGNUT. PUT THAT BALL DOWN AND FUCK OFF YOU WINGNUT CUNT!" Corner gets swung in by Anderton and they score. Everyone looks at Psycho bloke who calmly says "He's some player that Anderton."

Turning up and thinking who the fuck is that up front!? Next thing he nips in and scores as Gallagher's header bounces down off the crossbar, we went on to thump them 3-0, Tony Cottee becoming a West Ham legend.

Apart from all the obvious ones two of my favourites, which often go under the radar by our supporters, are the 1-0 win under the lights in August 1975 (a powerful late header by Keith Robson) and the 5-3 win in November 1976, also under the lights. At one stage we were winning 5-1 but they got two late goals to make the score a little more respectable.
Later that season they were relegated, Happy days!

The 3-4 was tough, never been so heartbroken at a football match
Also THAT Carlton backpass to Defoe 5 mins after scoring a left foot screamer

December 31 1983. I was back from Saudi Arabia on holiday and got seats in the old West Stand to watch us thump Spurs 4-1 with one of the hardest hit shots, from Ray Stewart that flew past Clemence, ive seen at Upton Park. Great day, got a result, got pissed and got another result with some sort that night as well, rounding off a perfect day. perfect hat-trick, fucked spurs, got fucked and was well fucked. It was fun being single back then
